WHO ARE THE FRIENDS?

The Friends of Wesleyville Village is a group of dedicated community members committed to restoring Wesleyville's remaining buildings for 21st-century community use. Supported by our engaged board of directors, annual members, and numerous community partners, we thoughtfully and responsibly maintain the four buildings entrusted to our care: the historic Wesleyville church, damaged by an act of arson in 2021; the Y-House, now occupied by our full-time caretakers and recently enhanced in 2024 to include a welcoming reception space; and the schoolhouse and barn, which were recently upgraded with electricity and currently serve as primary venues for community events until the church restoration is complete. Through these restoration efforts and our community programming, we protect and share the vibrant, welcoming spirit of Wesleyville Village.

Wesleyville offers a special heritage experience: its natural landscapes and historic buildings offer a glimpse into the past. Become a friend of Wesleyville Village and help to revitalize community spirit and culture while preserving our natural and historical landscape — and have fun while you're at it!

Wesleyville Heritage Village is situated on the Michi Saagig Anishinaabeg traditional territory covered by the Williams Treaties, specifically the Gunshot Treaty signed by the Mississauga First Nations of Alderville, Curve Lake, Hiawatha and Scugog Island. We express gratitude towards the Indigenous peoples who have and will continue to steward these lands and waters. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging. We dedicate ourselves to moving forward in the spirit of partnership, collaboration, and reconciliation, as we contemplate the possibilities that lie ahead. Our commitment is to listen, learn, and establish meaningful relationships with our Indigenous sector colleagues, and take actions that advance reconciliation. We do so by recognizing the past and working towards a shared future.
