Y-HOUSE RESTORATION and RECEPTION AREA

The Y-House, or Oughtred House, was built c. 1858, and features a unique architectural style. The main portion of this historic home is leased to our Wesleyville Village Caretakers as a private residence.

Renovation of the bright, beautiful reception area on the east side of the home was completed in 2024. The reception area now regularly welcomes board members, guests, and supporters to the many lively events hosted in the village.

The Friends of Wesleyville Village was founded on the lands of the Michi Saagig Anishinaabeg traditional territory covered by the Williams Treaties, specifically the Gunshot Treaty signed by the Mississauga First Nations of Alderville, Curve Lake, Hiawatha and Scugog Island. We express gratitude towards the Indigenous peoples who have and will continue to steward these lands and waters. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging. We dedicate ourselves to moving forward in the spirit of partnership, collaboration, and reconciliation, as we contemplate the possibilities that lie ahead. Our commitment is to listen, learn, and establish meaningful relationships with our Indigenous sector colleagues, and take actions that advance reconciliation. We do so by recognizing the past and working towards a shared future.
