A Wonderful evening at our 2025 Keynote BBQ

Our annual Keynote BBQ was held on Saturday, July 26, and we’re thrilled to report that it was a sold-out success! Seventy guests and volunteers gathered to enjoy a classic summer menu of burgers, corn, and salads. Although the weather was certainly hot, it did nothing to dampen the spirits of our attendees, who spent the evening mingling, reconnecting, and enjoying great company.

We were pleased to welcome several special guests, including Wendy Russell Johnson and some of her former Wesleyville students, Susan Giliauskas, and many long-time supporters of the village. The event was further brought to life by the fantastic live music of Greg Ward and Tom Merey, who kept the atmosphere lively and engaging throughout the evening.

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and friends of the organization, we were able to offer an impressive array of door prizes and raffle items. Altogether, the evening raised over $5,000—an important milestone that will help support our ongoing restoration and outreach efforts.

It was truly heartwarming to see our community come together for this special evening. Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated, or supported the event in any way. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year!

Wesleyville Heritage Village is situated on the Michi Saagig Anishinaabeg traditional territory covered by the Williams Treaties, specifically the Gunshot Treaty signed by the Mississauga First Nations of Alderville, Curve Lake, Hiawatha and Scugog Island. We express gratitude towards the Indigenous peoples who have and will continue to steward these lands and waters. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging. We dedicate ourselves to moving forward in the spirit of partnership, collaboration, and reconciliation, as we contemplate the possibilities that lie ahead. Our commitment is to listen, learn, and establish meaningful relationships with our Indigenous sector colleagues, and take actions that advance reconciliation. We do so by recognizing the past and working towards a shared future.
