Local celebrities and products at up-coming Market

Auction of local politicians’ baking booked for Sunday June 2nd at bustling Wesleyville Village Country Market/Nature Fest - 2082 Lakeshore Rd. Port Hope

The annual Spring market on Sunday June 2nd (10 am to 4 pm) has a new feature – the Bakers Dozen Auction featuring baked items donated by local elected officials and candidates in the Port Hope Ward Two by-election. This fund-raising event at Wesleyville Village, 2082 Lakeshore Road, Port Hope, will star a celebrity auctioneer – David Piccini, MPP Northumberland/Peterbourough South.

Booths and displays will offer local hand-crafted products, plants and food celebrating our rural Ontario diverse culture. The famous Bewdley Lions food truck will offer delicious lunches.

Market visitors are invited to tour the village and learn about all the conservation progress made over the past year. “So far in 2024, the news for Wesleyville Heritage Village has been very good and we’ll be showcasing our accomplishments at the market”, says Chairperson Kathy Dennis.

The accessibility ramp to the fire damaged Church has been constructed with funding provided by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. A restored reception area in the centre of the village will be opened to the public. Displays in the 125 year-old one room schoolhouse will help visitors to imagine rural life a century ago. And there’s a peaceful nature trail to enjoy!

Another Ontario Trillium Foundation grant has permitted the part-time employment of our Community Program Coordinator, Madeleine Sinnott. This grant is for a development project to create a sustainable future for the Friends of Wesleyville Village. Connecting with community members at the market will help Madeleine and the Friends develop long-term plans for conserving this listed Provincial Heritage Property of local significance.
