The Friends of Wesleyville Village, Ontario

We need a Community Program Coordinator to provide planning, development, fundraising and communications services for the Friends of Wesleyville Village, Ontario. This position is funded by an Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) project grant to build our organization’s resilience and sustainability.


Primary work location - 2082 Lakeshore Rd. Port Hope, ON  L1A 3V7

Secondary location - Remote work from home or other suitable location

Term -  September 2024 – March 2026

Part-time position - $25.00 an hour, 16 hours per week

 

Work Tasks and Responsibilities:

●      Develop and implement new approaches (digital and in-person) to public engagement in conserving and celebrating our heritage village.

●      Through outreach, assess community needs for new or adapted programs to attract and engage volunteers, members and visitors.

●      Research and develop a donor management and volunteer recruitment and retention plan for Board approval.  Recommend software for donor and volunteer management.

●      Responsibilities include communications, fund-raising activities, public education program planning, volunteer recruitment and recognition, virtual programming and member support.

●      Recommend to the Board strategic plan adaptations to meet identified community needs and generate revenue.

●      Implement Board approved adaptations/revisions to programs and events, including volunteer/donor recognition.

●      Assess and report results of implemented revisions to members / community stakeholders for feedback.

●      Report progress on programming and planning for sustainability to the FOWV Board and OTF every 6 months.


Qualifications

Education & Knowledge:

·       Post-secondary studies in Event Management, Communications, Fund-raising, Education, Public Service, Heritage Conservation Management or a related field;

·       Experience with a not-for-profit community organization as a staff member or a volunteer;

·       Experience in marketing/communications;

·       Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, Google Docs, social media, communications design and digital data management;

  • Some knowledge of Port Hope’s local history and community organizations, or the willingness to learn.

·       Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment;

·       Proficiency in oral and written communication;

·       Job task planning and organizing;

·       Ability to deal with multiple demands and priorities;

·       Strategic thinking and decision-making abilities;

·       Personable, demonstrates initiative.
